Overview: Control Room Operator, Entry Level, assists in monitoring the operation of the gas compressor fleet to ensure smooth operation. Under the guidance of experienced operators, learn how to monitor equipment performance, identify potential issues, and support the efficient and safe operation of gas compressors.
Essential Duties:
- Work alongside senior operators to learn to use control room systems (SCADA, GPS, etc.) to monitor gas compressor performance and operating parameters.
- Assist in identifying potential issues or abnormal equipment behavior and report findings to more experienced operators for further action.
- Support the maintenance of accurate records, including equipment readings, alarms, and actions taken. Help generate shift reports and update operational logs as needed.
- Answering phone calls from customers for call-outs and assistance. Answering phone calls from the field team and assisting them with their needs. Making phone calls to the appropriate field supervisor/technician to complete a call-out or relay other information.
- Create work orders from call-outs and/or other tasks the field team needs to perform.
- Follow standard operating procedures and assist senior operators in responding to critical situations, ensuring safe and efficient resolution of issues.
- Always adhere to safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain a safe work environment.
- Ability to work a rotational 7 days on – 7 days off schedule, with 12-hour shifts, covering both day and night shifts.
- Engage in training and skill development to deepen your knowledge of gas compressor systems and improve your ability to monitor and troubleshoot equipment effectively.
Non-Essential Duties: Performs other duties assigned by supervisor.

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to:
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation principles is helpful but not required.
- A strong willingness to learn and the ability to follow directions from senior operators.
- Ability to interpret basic data and detect anomalies with guidance.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork.
Knowledge:
- Basic knowledge of work orders.
- Monitors basic parameters and responds to routine alarms.
- Performs date logging.
- Assists Senior Operators with equipment adjustments.
Minimum Education and Certification:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
Leadership:
- Works under direct supervision and follows strict protocols.
