Clinical Research Associate, Cardiothoracic Surgery - (260003KF)Description
A Brief Overview
The research associate will support the Division of Cardiac Surgery, providing analysis and interpretation of cardiac surgery metrics and outcomes related to research trials.
What You Will Do
- Directly involved with sponsored and non-sponsored research trials related to various aspects of cardiac surgery
- Assists with SOP development, grant and protocol development, along with active participation in preparation of manuscripts, abstracts and presentations for scientific publications.
- Supports and collaborates with UH Cardiac Surgeons, cardiothoracic fellows, medical students and other UH scientists on research projects.
- Assists with research workshops, academic research collaborations with Universities and animal laboratory research.

Qualifications
Education
- Master's Degree prepared (Preferred)
- Doctorate Degree in research in related field (Required) and
- Physician with post-doctoral research experience (Required)
Work Experience
- 1+ years fellowship or research experience in medical and/or clinical field. (Required) and
- Experience associated with Cardiothoracic surgery (Required) and
- Experience in publishing research desired and understanding of statistical analyses. (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Advanced knowledge Machine Learning/AI algorithms for data analysis including programming in R, Python and other frameworks. (Preferred proficiency)
- Strong background in R and one or more areas of machine learning (Bayesian networks, neural networks, Markov Models, convolutional networks etc.) (Preferred proficiency)
- Technical skills associated with interpreting invasiveimaging modalities. (Preferred proficiency)
- Understanding or experience with SAS/SPSS statistical software. (Preferred proficiency)
- PC (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), office equipment, clinical equipment. (Required proficiency)
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills. (Required proficiency)
