Job Purpose:
Weatherford have a great opportunity for an experienced WCP (Well Construction Products) Applications Engineer to join the team in Ortona, Italy.
The Applications Engineer is accountable for the technical and commercial success of assigned customer accounts and projects. Acting as the primary customer-facing focal point, the Applications Engineer owns the design, modelling, and delivery of work scopes, ensuring technical integrity, accurate forecasting, and profitable outcomes. In addition to engineering responsibilities, the role is responsible for maximising commercial return on customer accounts by identifying upsell opportunities, optimising service delivery, and ensuring contract compliance.
Responsibilities:
OPERATIONS
Lead design and simulation of assigned jobs.
Provide pre-job technical reviews and post-job reports to customers.
Complete internal PEER review, briefs and de-briefs as per service design standards.
Collaborate with Operations Supervisors to ensure jobs are executable and resourced effectively.
Support field execution through troubleshooting and technical assistance when required.

Act as the primary technical and commercial focal point for assigned customer accounts.
Present designs, forecasts, and lessons learned directly to customers.
Maintain effective communication with BD, Ops, Workshop, and Supply Chain to deliver seamless service.
FINANCIAL

Ensure accurate forecasting of revenue, costs, and utilisation for assigned customer accounts.

Maximise commercial return on assigned customer accounts through:
Upselling additional services or technologies.
Identifying opportunities for bundling, optimisation, and contract harvesting.
Ensuring full compliance with contract terms and invoicing requirements.
Collaborate with the Technical Business Development Lead to escalate and pursue growth opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or equivalent).
5+ years of experience in liner hangers, cementing products or well construction product operations.
Experience in sand control completions operations advantageous.
Proven customer-facing experience with direct accountability for scopes.
Strong commercial acumen with experience in revenue/cost forecasting.
Proficiency with design and modelling tools (WellCat, WellPlan, Prosper, or equivalent).
Strong technical design and simulation capability.
Strong project management skills.
Commercial awareness and accountability for financial outcomes.
Customer relationship management skills with ability to influence and upsell.
Effective communicator, capable of presenting confidently to customers.
Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple customer accounts simultaneously.
Qualifications & Experience Preferred:
Experience in upselling or developing incremental revenue opportunities within customer accounts.
Familiarity with JDE, Windchill, and SalesForce.
Exposure to subsea, HPHT, or complex well environments, including Hydrogen and CCUS.
Knowledge of digital simulation advancements and data-driven optimisation.
Experience in account management or technical sales support.
Ability to link technical solutions to customer value and contract profitability.
Travel Requirement:
This role may require domestic and potentially international travel of up to 10%.
