About the role
The Senior Project Officer is part of the Diversity Strategy team, within the Diversity and Responsivity Directorate, for which they will provide project management. Manages and coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation of complex projects to achieve project outcomes and support the achievement of organisational objectives.
Please note: the 2026 Reform will currently see the Diversity Strategy team move into the (Service and Program Delivery Directorate). This is subject to change.
This team provides strategic direction and support to the broader agency relating to focus areas of: culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD), Older Adults, Young Adults, and LGBTQIA+ populations. Diversity Strategy is currently leading the CSNSW Addressing Racism and Discrimination project – subject to 2026 Reform directions.
Primarily you will:
- Lead and manage projects relating to the diverse cohort inmates and offenders.
- Assist in research and consultation to provide advice about diverse people in our care (custody and community).
- Engage in genuine co-design with people in contact with CSNSW, communities and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to inform strategies. Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Monitor and evaluate all aspects of project management. Ensuring compliance with governance and quality requirements, provide advice on emerging project issues, and to successfully deliver all key project/s milestones and outcomes.
- Support CSNSW staff to implement strategies, including the Department of Community and Justice (DCJs) Multicultural Strategy.
- Support CSNSW staff to implement Action Plans across Older Adult and Addressing Racism and Discrimination projects.
- Secretariat duties in relevant Working Groups
- Monitoring and actioning team shared mailbox enquiries

About You
- You are enthusiastic about making a difference and have experience, knowledge and understanding of project management methodology. To develop and lead Action Plans for diverse groups in remand, sentenced and community environments.
- You will be joining a team that is focused on developing a culture of performance and who are innovative in their approach to what works.
- Ideally you will have experience and an understanding of work in both custodial and community areas. With an understanding of diverse cohorts of inmates and offenders in the CSNSW environment and/or ability to rapidly learn about these diverse cohorts, their needs and intersections with internal and external stakeholders.
- Understanding and experience is highly desirable, particularly with CALD, Older Adult, Young Adult, and LGBTIQA+ inmates and offenders. As well an interest to broadly address racism and discrimination in CSNSW.
- Adept communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills
- An ability to work under tight timeframes, whilst managing competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level organisational skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Advanced technology skills in EDRMS, OIMS, SharePoint, Smart Sheet, and Microsoft Office suite of programs to maximise administration efficiencies.
- Will need to be willing to travel to Parramatta to meet as often as required.
