Structural Welder & Fabrication Technician
Location: Virginia Beach, VA
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Pay: Starts at $20.00/hour (rate increases based on experience)
Position Overview
We are looking for experienced welders with strong fabrication skills to support production in a high-output manufacturing environment. This role involves working with multiple welding methods to build and assemble structural components while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.
Key Duties
Welding & Fabrication
- Perform welding using various methods such as MIG, TIG, wire feed, spot welding, and oxy-fuel processes
- Fabricate structural components including frames, beams, and tanks in different welding positions
- Interpret blueprints and drawings to determine specifications and material requirements
- Prepare materials, complete weld finishing, and ensure completed work meets quality standards
Assembly & Equipment Operation
- Assemble components using techniques like bolting, drilling, clamping, tapping, and cutting
- Utilize hand tools and power equipment such as grinders and sanders
- Set up welding machines and adjust parameters including gas levels and wire feed
Quality Control & Equipment Care
- Inspect raw materials, welds, and completed products to verify accuracy and compliance
- Identify and report equipment issues; assist with basic troubleshooting
- Support pressure testing and perform rework when needed
Documentation & Communication
- Track completed work and maintain accurate time records
- Communicate progress, safety concerns, and quality issues to leadership

Education & Certifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
MIG welding certification preferred
TIG welding experience or certification is a plus
Trade school or vocational training is beneficial
