PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Roofing Insights and Strategy Lead will be an integral member of the Roofing organization - responsible for leading high-impact market and customer insight work while flexing into strategic projects where deep insights, synthesis, and analytical rigor are required.
The Roofing insights and strategy lead will support the objectives of the team by partnering closely with the Roofing Strategy, Marketing, and Product teams to translate research and data into clear implications, strategic options, and recommendations that support Roofing’s growth agenda.
This role’s primary accountability is in ensuring strategic decisions are grounded in robust market and customer understanding while also flexing into management of select strategic projects, progressing the Roofing growth agenda.
Responsibilities will revolve around working across the organization, leveraging insights experience, strategic thinking, and work ethic to help Owens Corning meet its growth objectives. This role owns execution and synthesis of assigned insights, research, and strategy projects.
Reports to: Insights and Strategy Leader
Span of Control: No direct reports, very high cross-functional interaction within OC, including Roofing and Marketing Leadership
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Market Insights / VOC
- Support end-to-end qualitative and quantitative research projects, from problem framing and methodology selection through synthesis, implications, and recommendations
- Lead ongoing qualitive and quantitative reach projects, such as Homeowner brand, Contractor satisfaction, etc.
- Partner with the Insights Manager to frame high-priority business questions and determine when primary research, secondary market / competitive analysis, or synthesis is required
- Independently execute research activities including research briefs, survey and discussion guide development, fieldwork coordination, analysis, and storytelling
- Manage third-party research partners for assigned projects, ensuring rigor, clarity, and actionable outputs
- Translate findings into clear insights, implications, and recommended actions for marketing, product, and strategy partners
- Maintain research documentation, datasets, and outputs within enterprise knowledge systems
- Lead market and competitive intelligence projects to address business needs from problem framing and methodology selection through synthesis, implications, and recommendations
- Adheres to legal, ethical, and organizational data governance standards when handling research inputs, outputs, and customer information
Strategy Project Management
- Build relationships within the organization, cross-functionally, and with key stakeholders; ensure effective contact to remain aligned with Roofing and enterprise objectives
- Understand the strategic direction of the company’s businesses and execute functional strategies to support and enhance business results: be knowledgeable of the project work that supports this direction and implications to the business
- Understand customer relationships and what it takes to ensure their success
- Partner with product managers, digital team members, and other key stakeholders to properly identify and determine critical areas of analysis for their growth projects
Business Management
- Drive analytical and insightful support to various strategic projects
- Lead the analysis of projects by working closely with the business units and cross-functional leadership
- Conduct data collection and market research related to inorganic strategy and other corporate initiatives
- Consolidate, synthesize and interpret collected information to inform key strategic decisions
- Perform comprehensive and in-depth company and industry research
- Lead Roofing’s Risk Assessment Process
- Prepare presentations that follow a logically reasoned, data supported approach that allow leadership to quickly understand logic and assumptions on an opportunity
- Support the execution of Roofing’s Long-Range Plan (LRP), Board Decks, Investor Day presentations, and internal strategy socialization
JOB REQUIREMENTS & CABILITIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required in business or related field
- 4+ years’ market research experience (vendor or client side); experience managing primary research (qualitative and quantitative)
- 2+ years strategic project management experience
- Demonstrated experience in strategic and analytical skills; leveraging insights, data sets, and competitive and market intelligence to make decisions
- Experience managing third party research agencies
- Demonstrated experience presenting to leadership and turning data into actionable insights and strategic implications
- Advanced user ability in statistical software program (SPSS, SAS, etc)
- Advanced user ability in survey programming software (Qualtrics, Sawtooth, etc)
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- MBA or equivalent working experience is required
- Experience working on and leading cross-functional and multi-department enterprise-wide projects
- Project planning and management skills including the ability to recognize and evaluate risks to determine possible corrective courses of action, if required
- Complex project leadership experience
- Demonstrated leadership in organizations with multiple channels and/or manufacturing operations, and has led strategic planning, operations planning, investment analysis and executive level business reviews
- Ability to be successful in a highly matrixed structure across functional, business, geographic and cultural boundaries
