POSITION SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the Vice President of Operations, the Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day operations of the Boll Family YMCA, a branch within the YMCA of Metro Detroit. This position provides cause-driven leadership in the areas of membership & program administration; development & fundraising; leadership & supervision; fiscal management; board development; and safety & risk management. As part of the executive leadership team, the Executive Director is accountable for branch financial, membership, and annual campaign goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Leadership & Supervision • Oversees the hiring, training, development, coaching, and supervision of staff, and leads a learning culture of innovation, equity, accountability, and professional growth in alignment with association standards. • Provides direction and coordination for staff to ensure high-quality program delivery and operational excellence.
Membership & Program Quality/Growth • Oversee member acquisition and engagement strategies that achieve Association standards and targets. • Provides oversight of all program areas, ensuring quality, safety, and alignment with branch and association goals. • Manages and provides oversight to the branch budget. Ensures operating budgets meet or exceed targets.
Development/Fundraising • Directs the financial development activities of the branch. Personally cultivates donors and secures gifts.
Board Development • Provides stewardship to the branch advisory board, ensuring a strong, dedicated, and engaged group of volunteers. • Ensures clarity in board roles and responsibilities.
Safety & Risk Management • Ensures association standards, policies, and practices are implemented and followed, including those related to branch access, emergency procedures, risk management, and child abuse prevention. • Ensures the safety and stewardship of well-maintained facilities, grounds, and equipment, in collaboration with the Association central maintenance team.

QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s Degree is required. • YMCA Multi-Team Leader certification preferred. • Six or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency. • Experience in management and development of staff and volunteers. • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
