Your Responsibilities:
The IBM Power Systems (AS/400) Engineer will be responsible for advancing the development, performance, and reliability of IBM Power Systems within the ADM IT Infrastructure & Operations (IT I&O) organization. This role involves creating strategies, roadmaps, and processes to support the continuous improvement of AS/400 platforms. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide subject matter expertise, and contribute to modernization efforts while complying with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
- Design and implement innovative AS/400 engineering solutions that integrate seamlessly into larger systems and align with organizational standards
- Develop strategies and roadmaps in close collaboration with cross-functional architecture teams to drive continuous improvement of AS/400 platforms
- Collaborate with technical teams to identify, test, and deploy monitoring / automation tools to enhance the performance / reliability of AS/400 systems
- Assist in planning and execution of migration strategies to support uninterrupted transition from legacy AS/400 systems to modern platforms
- Provide technical expertise for risk assessments, business continuity planning, and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Analyze requirements for incoming requests, producing deliverables that are clearly defined and agreed upon with stakeholders
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors to propose and implement new solutions and continuous improvement initiatives
- Conduct technical reviews of change requests and designs created by other teams, aligning with organizational goals and standards
- Maintain and support IBM AS/400 systems, including OS/400 operating systems, promoting high availability and optimal performance
- Implement and maintain security controls in compliance with audit, regulatory, and data retention requirements, as well as organizational policies
Your Profile:- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience working with IBM AS/400 systems, including iSeries, OS/400, and CL programming
- Proficiency in RPG, COBOL, and DB2 databases
- Expertise in legacy networking protocols, integration with storage and backup systems
- Broad knowledge of infrastructure and networking systems, mainframe platforms, and cloud and middleware capabilities including private and public cloud environments
- Experience in creating strategic technology roadmaps and detailed solution designs
- Strong ability to perform requirements analysis and develop holistic solutions designs
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
