Intern for Chemical Engineering, PETRONAS Chemicals Ethylene Sdn. Bhd. in Kerteh, Terengganu

The intern will undergo structured On-the-Job Training (OJT) within the Ethylene Production Department, focusing on safe plant operations, process understanding, operating discipline, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Process & Plant Operations Support
   1. Assist engineers in understanding the ethylene plant process flow, including furnace operations, cracking, compression, separation, refrigeration, and utilities interface.
2. Operating Data Monitoring
   1. Support monitoring of basic operating parameters such as temperature, pressure, and flow rate.
   2. Utilize Microsoft Excel and Power BI for data tracking and dashboard updates.
3. HSE Support
   1. Assist in compiling Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) observations.
   2. Support identification and documentation of safety improvement ideas.
4. Operational Analysis Support
   1. Assist engineers in:
      1. Reviewing daily operational logs
      2. Performing production data tabulation
      3. Conducting basic trend analysis
5. Reporting & Documentation
   1. Support preparation of:
      1. Daily and weekly operational summaries
      2. Basic reports using PowerPoint and Excel
6. Learning & Improvement Activities
   1. Participate in guided tasks such as:
      1. Equipment familiarization (e.g., furnaces, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers)
      2. Review of operating procedures (L3 Operating Procedures – for awareness only)
      3. Basic operational studies or case reviews (e.g., energy efficiency, water usage awareness)
7. Final Deliverables
   1. Prepare and present a final learning report at the end of the internship.
