The Business Data Enablement (BDE) India unit is part of the global BDE organization and is responsible for the development, maintenance, and operation of DNV’s analytics and reporting platforms.
The team supports fact-based decision making across the organization by providing trusted, refined, and well governed data for value adding insights.
This unit is focused on business domain specific data (production data) and data platforms, serving Business Areas.
We are seeking a Data Engineer role based in Pune, India, who will contribute to the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of enterprise data platforms and analytics solutions.
The role has a strong focus on backend data engineering, including data integration, transformation, and semantic data modelling, supporting enterprise analytics and reporting platforms.
Exposure to Power BI is considered an advantage but not a primary requirement.
The role requires a hands-on mindset across data pipelines, databases, and semantic layers, ensuring reliable and scalable data solutions.
Main Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines for data integration, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT).
Work on data orchestration and integration using tools such as Azure Data Factory and Informatica.
Develop and maintain enterprise semantic models (Azure Analysis Services / Power BI / Microsoft Fabric).
Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance across data pipelines and models.
Troubleshoot data issues across layers (data sources, pipelines, and semantic models).
Optimize data processing, SQL queries, and pipeline performance.
Collaborate with reporting and analytics teams to enable downstream data consumption.
Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, product owners, and stakeholders across global, virtual teams.
Contribute to development standards, best practices, and technical documentation.
Support analytics and reporting solutions where required.
Facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.

To succeed in this role, you should have:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
4–6 years of relevant experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or similar roles.
Strong SQL skills (query writing, performance tuning, troubleshooting).
Hands on experience in ETL/ELT development using tools such as Azure Data Factory and/or Informatica PowerCenter/IICS.
Experience in data pipeline design, orchestration, and monitoring.
Hands on experience with semantic modelling in Azure Analysis Services, Power BI, or Microsoft Fabric.
Good understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modelling (star schema, dimensional modelling).
Exposure to DBT or similar transformation frameworks is a plus.
Experience working with structured enterprise data sources.
Good verbal and written English communication skills.
Willingness and ability to write clear technical and user facing documentation.

Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, or Snowflake.
Experience with Power BI (report development or semantic layer usage).
Scripting experience using PowerShell, Python, or similar.
Experience working in an Agile environment using tools such as Azure DevOps or JIRA.
Exposure to Data governance and version control (git /Azure devops repos).
