Overview
Responsible for the design, development, implementation, and troubleshooting of audio and video systems and infrastructure, focusing on both legacy and cloud-based solutions. This role is specifically focused on Video on Demand (VOD) applications and solutions.
Location: Crawley Court, Winchester & Newman Street, London
We operate a flexible, hybrid working environment – requirement to travel to either our Winchester or London office up to twice a week.

Accountabilities
- Install, test, analyse, troubleshoot and modify new Audio & Video processing equipment/solutions to achieve maximum performance and availability.
- Provide technical knowledge to the development and deployment of Audio & Video processing service infrastructure, driving improved technical and service performance.
- Design and drive processes to facilitate smooth and seamless deployment of new Audio & Video processing services.
- Design, develop, and implement Audio & Video processing systems and solutions for broadcast and satellite communications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise the delivery of 3rd party suppliers and contractors to ensure that delivery specifications and standards meet Arqiva requirements.
- Standardise equipment to minimise disruption and achieve straightforward integration with existing networks/infrastructure.
- Document Audio & Video processing build procedures and contribute to the continuous improvement of policies, processes and procedures.
- Apply standard procedures to solve problems and identify appropriate resolution.
- Adopt the role of Design Authority (DA) in area of Audio & Video processing expertise to ensure the delivery of the end-to-end customer solution and for less complex projects Lead Design Authority (LDA).
- Bring a commercial perspective to the operation, with a particular focus on cash management, cash preservation and optimising returns on investments made in assets and tools.
- Contribute to accurate forecasting and capacity management for broadcast.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, network engineering, and field operations, to support the deployment and optimisation of Audio & Video processing technologies.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in Audio & Video processing technologies and industry trends.
- Drive collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement within Audio & Video processing engineering.
- Provide technical leadership within the team, sharing knowledge and skills and providing mentoring support to engineers and technicians.
- Act as an escalation point for troubleshooting from junior engineers.
- Support integration projects for legacy systems and cloud-based solutions
Skills
- Audio and video processing - Understanding of audio and video processing principles
- Multiplexing - Proficiency in encoding and multiplexing technologies
- Diagnostic tools - Proficiency in diagnostic engineering tools and software
- Analytical and technical problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues
- Communication skills - collaborate with cross-functional teams, present technical info and provide training or support
- Project management - ability to manage one or multiple projects or project tasks and meet deadlines
- Virtualisation & Cloud Computing – proficiency with virtualisation and cloud computing eg AWS, Azure, Google Cloud platforms
Knowledge & Experience
- Established experience in audio and video processing.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms and technologies.
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
Qualifications: A degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is advantageous.
Please note that the successful candidate will be required to successfully undergo UK Security Clearance and must have been resident within the UK for at least five years.
