Position Overview :
We are seeking a Supply Chain Engineer (SCE) working in Global Operations (GO) - Backend Equipment and Materials (BEM) department to support direct materials management in the semiconductor assembly and test environment, with a primary focus on incoming materials technical readiness and quality. The role interfaces with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure materials meet specifications, reliability requirements, and production needs. The candidate will drive issue resolution, material qualification, and continuous improvement to enable predictable and efficient manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities :
Incoming Direct Materials Technical Ownership: Ensure incoming direct materials, including substrates and assembly materials, meet defined technical specifications and quality requirements. Work closely with Supplier Materials Engineering (SME), Materials Quality and Reliability Engineering (MQRE), and factory Module Engineering (ME) teams to validate material readiness, support new materials / products introduction, and enable smooth transition to high volume manufacturing (HVM).
Technical Escalation and Factory Support: Act as the primary technical point of contact for incoming material-related issues. Lead investigations, coordinate cross-functional actions, and drive timely resolution to minimize impact on production, yield, and delivery.
Direct Materials Quality Management: Lead direct materials quality excursion. Partner with SME and MQRE teams to manage material excursions, including containment, risk assessment, root cause analysis, and disposition decisions. Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), support reliability validation and data analysis, and lead quality, yield improvement, and cost optimization initiatives to ensure sustained material performance and long-term product reliability.
Supplier Qualification and Change Management: Support supplier qualification, validation, and engineering changes to support supplier capex activities, quality/yield continously improvements as well as cost savings / optimization activities. Participate in Materials Change Control team to ensure controlled and risk-managed implementation.
Audit and Compliance Support: Prepare for and participate in supplier audits, customer audits, internal audits, and ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 audits. Support audit readiness, documentation, and closure of findings to ensure compliance with quality management systems and regulatory requirements.
- Education and Experience : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in semiconductor or manufacturing environments. Experience in backend assembly, packaging, or high-volume production is preferred.
- Fluent in English communications.
- Technical Competencies: Strong understanding of material properties, including thermal and mechanical behavior, as well as failure analysis and package reliability concepts. Good knowledge of manufacturing processes and material interactions with equipment.
- Quality Systems and Standards: Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and familiarity with IATF 16949 requirements. Experience with structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D and supporting audits, compliance, and continuous improvement activities.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills with a structured problem-solving approach. Experience in statistical analysis and design of experiments (DOE), with proficiency in tools such as JMP or equivalent.
- Systems and Tools : Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and materials management tools for tracking, traceability, and issue management.
- Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication skills with the ability to work across cross-functional teams and align stakeholders on technical and operational matters.
- Additional Strengths: Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments, technical paper/documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
