Key Responsibilities:
Operational Efficiency and Management (60% Time Spent) • Follow Guardteck Security’s standards, rules, and policies. • Attend training, orientation sessions, and staff meetings as required by Guardteck Security. • If an incident occurs, report, and document in a detailed and accurate manner as well as follow emergency procedures. Report to the client and senior management along with a resolution and following actions to reduce hazards. • Ensure that guard supervisors are promoting an efficient, professional, and agile approach when dealing with difficult situations. • Provide orientation and training to new employees. • Manage vacation time for employees. • Manage all site and smart centre employee schedules in an effective and efficient manner. • Ensure company vehicle maintenance is kept up to date • Report to management any changes or discrepancies to employees’ hours. • Fully understand and be aware of the site layout. • Resource Management: ensuring we have the right number of employees for shifts and working within contract billable hours. • Organized key and radio storage/stations • Managing Over-time, Sick, and other leaves • Managing the performance of security guards to ensure they are performing at the highest level • Ensure that the key metrics (KPI)for the site and/or the manager's scorecard are always up to date. • Ensure that any and all contractual compliance training aspects are in line with the contract. • Address and ensure that there are no open or available shifts on any of the site's master schedules. • Monitor public areas for unusual activity and potential threats. • Identify potential thieves/shoplifters from customers or staff and deal with them with aggressive hospitality. • Document theft, other security violations, and what they observed on duty. • Work with law enforcement and LPs to detain suspects of shoplifting or dishonest employees. • Proactively deter criminal acts through a physical presence. • Respond to emergencies that require the assistance of a security officer. • Performs escorts of employees and customers as requested. • Contacts emergency responders such as police, fire and ambulance personnel as needed. • Enforce rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Relationship building (30% Time Spent) • Preserve clients’ interests, needs, and wants at all times. • Serves the property and client through excellent customer service skills • Ensure that employees provide safety and security services to the property, customer and third parties. • Ensure that incidents are being resolved efficiently and address the client’s needs. • Encourage service interactions and exchanges of information between employees and customers. • Constantly communicate with clients to understand their needs, desires, and worries in order to act accordingly. • Reports all issues to the Client and Guardteck Management • Provides responses and updates to the client • Satisfied the needs and requests of the client • Advocate for our employees and their needs to the client • Send daily reports/score card to the client and Guardteck Management
Leadership (5% Time Spent) • Provide constant constructive feedback, coaching, and training to enhance motivation and performance. • Promote a collaborative culture in where all employees can rely on each other and improve motivation. • Enforce above and beyond customer service, performance, and high-quality deliverables • Manage a high-performing team and leading hires, promotions, and terminations. • Provides leadership and guidance to staff during incidents and responds to all major incidents • Assist, manage, and coach all employees to guarantee high-quality performance along with compliance related to rules, expectations, and standards.
Team Engagement and Management (5% Time Spent) • Ensure meeting cadences: Team meetings, engagement events, and recognition. • Address employee concerns and hindrances in general needs: uniforms, keys, radios • Provides supervision of all contract security staff • Ensure all the daily operations of the security team and direct all work, assignments, breaks and tasks • Conducts Daily shift briefings • Ensures that all security guards are licensed, uniformed, and equipment • Ensures all security guards complete their memo books and all incident reports by the end of the shift • Review all security guard memo books and incident reports by the end of the shift • Completes daily shift brief by end of shift and attaches all incident reports to the brief • Ensure all security guards complete Guard Tour Patrols • Ensures security guards complete their responsibilities and tasks • Ensure all weekly and monthly audits are complete • Report all health & safety concerns to the Client and Account Manager • Constantly interact with all employees to determine any issues and understand their needs • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive issues
Ad Hoc Responsibilities: • Enforce compliance with Occupation Health and Safety regulations • Assist in the implementation of new technology or software systems to improve operational efficiency • Manage and report any accidents or injuries, ensuring timely completion of reports • Participate in the joint health & safety committee and maintain a safe, clean work environment • Support the planning and execution of company-wide initiatives or special events • Uphold and embody Kandor Managements core values, ensuring they are understood by all employees • Maintain strong professional relationships with co-workers, executives and management • Security room is clean and orderly • Reduction of time off • Reduction of time to report claims • Staff is trained on H&S responsibilities • All other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Education: • Completed Certificate in Security Management or a combination of education and experience. • 3 years security experience • 3 years of experience managing teams, preferably in a unionized setting. • Valid Security Licence. • Completed basic security training; AST is an asset. • Leadership training is an asset. • Post-secondary education in a Law Enforcement/Security program preferred • Available to work full time - Monday - Friday, with the occasional weekend and evening shift. • Have good computer skills • Ability to work independently and as a team player. • Outstanding customer service. • Honesty, discipline, commitment, accountability, and trustworthiness. • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. • Outstanding leadership skills that promote a strong culture and motivates employees. • Full knowledge of security system databases. • Outstanding problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and awareness of discrepancies in the environment and relationships. • Ability to resolve conflict in an efficient and agile manner while promoting non-aggressive behaviours such as a conflict solution. • Ability to make difficult decisions. • Strong interpersonal skills. • Ability to assist, help, coach, mentor, and discipline employees. • Excellent multitasking skills that guarantee quality and efficiency. • Ability to research and understand possible outcomes and risks. • Ability to be empathic and to understand people’s needs. • Excellent time management, organizational, and planning skills. • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability, tact and diplomacy • Ability to perform accurate investigations of incidents. • Willingness to go above and beyond and always try to find ways to be more efficient.
