General neurologists are recognized as essential to ensure a rapid, accessible, cost-effective and comprehensive management of patients with neurologic disease in the community where they live. General neurologists offer the first contact for patients with neurological symptoms and for longitudinal care for patients with many neurological conditions; for those with a rare disease for whom there is no specialty clinic; and in emergency situations. The Division of GN includes the Neurology Urgent Access Clinic (NUAC) and the Yale Neurology Resident Clinics. The section is at the core of the Yale Medicine/ Yale New Haven Health System’s Brain Health Initiative aiming to continue transforming our clinical services from the traditional 'reactive' approach (treating disease) to a proactive approach (early disease recognition and prevention).
