Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Training & Development Manager, work in a supportive environment to gain experience and learn skills required to perform Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort line-level positions. The Tribal Member Rotation program will be developed within Soaring Eagle Gaming departments who can provide on-the-job experience to unite the goals and curriculum of the program. This program is intended for Tribal Members to gain knowledge and experience in each department for future employment opportunities. The Tribal Member will be rotated within different departments and jobs based on a schedule developed by Human Resources and the needs of the business. This position will not be eligible to accept tips. At the completion of this program, employees will receive a certificate that will provide the tribal member with minimum qualifications for any line-level position within Soaring Eagle Gaming.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Shadow and perform related duties within the Soaring Eagle Gaming entities.
- Complete the entire program as defined by the program guidelines.
- Evaluation of progress and work performance while in each department.
- Perform duties and responsibilities relevant to placement.
- Participate in cultural and academic professional development opportunities that may arise.
- Work alongside assigned mentor to gain on the job experience.
- Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.
- The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.
- Meet on a monthly basis with the Tribal Development Coordinator, to work towards obtaining permanent employment within SECR.
Contacts/Purpose of Contacts:
- Contact with associates within the organization for the purpose of collaborating and gaining basic knowledge of all Soaring Eagle gaming enterprises.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be a Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Member.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.
License, Certification, or Special Requirements:
- Native American preference shall apply to all positions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.
- Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
- Ability to represent organization in a professional manner, building respect and confidence in the community.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with computer equipment.
- Required to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally walk and reach with arms and hands.
- Normal visual acuity, ability to talk and hear.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Frequent walking and standing in a smoking environment and contact with the general public. Constant visual stimulation via neon lights on slot machines, repeatedly changing machine video screens, static or flashing signs throughout the casino and constant machine and crowd noise.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.
- Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
- Travel may be required.
