The Restaurant Supervisor will support the Restaurant Manager in the efficient management of the Customs House Restaurant and supervision of the Restaurant team to ensure excellent service to guests in the award-winning restaurant. A commitment to the ongoing success of the Restaurant is essential.
Staff are required to fulfil 38 hours per week, including some weekends and evenings. This is a full-time, fixed-term position at Food and Beverage Grade 4.
The responsibilities of the role may include (but are not limited to):
Restaurant Operations
Supervision and hands on service in the Restaurant and assisting as required in the Banquets Department
Management of the electronic restaurant diary
Liaison with Event Coordinators and Kitchen regarding service
Responsibility for staff and patron care
Responsible service of alcohol
Assisting the Restaurant Manager in the day-to-day activities of Customs House
Staffing
Training of Food and Beverage Attendants
Maintenance of high service standards
Working within budgeted wage costs
Menu and Wine List
Training of new staff in the menu
Preparation of a menu glossary highlighting dietary requirements
Programming of POS system
Stock Control and Ordering
Manage and control restaurant supplies and beverages
Organisation of liquor store, cold room and fridges
Financial
Banking reports
Reconciliation of takings
This is a full-time, fixed-term position through to April 2028 at Food & Beverage Load Rate Grade 4. The full-time equivalent base salary will be $66,864.88 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be $78,231.91 per annum. Customs House has a Christmas closure period to refresh at the end of the year and also offers a generous 17% superannuation and leave loading with no public holidays.

You'll have experience in a similar role, coupled with a current RSA. You'll be able to demonstrate knowledge of seamless restaurant operations, including leading teams, problem solving, WHS, operating POS systems, and basic abilities in working with audio visual equipment. You'll be highly organised, collaborative, and committed to exemplary customer service.
At least 1-2 years’ subsequent relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Current Queensland Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate (RSA)
Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role in a high-profile Food and beverage operation
Trained coffee barista.
Well developed supervisory and leadership skills.
Highly developed organisational skills and ability to work under pressure.
Sound understanding of workplace, health, and safety issues.
