Compensation: $16.67 hourly
Summary: The Custodial Staff responds to the overall cleaning and sanitization, maintenance, day to day security, and visitor safety of the Children’s Museum of Phoenix. Additional duties include minor repairs, painting & deep cleaning. This is a physically active and team-oriented role requiring walking and standing for long periods of time, bending and lifting, and janitorial duties. Weekends, nights and holiday hours are required. This is an entry-level position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Keep restrooms supplied and clean throughout operating hours
Empty trash bags and diaper pails as needed
Continually monitor and clean tables and chairs in eating areas
Wipe & clean windows, walls and doors throughout the Museum on every shift
Respond promptly to requests to safely cleanup spills and accidents including bodily fluids and excrement
Proactively observe surroundings to assess cleaning needs and maintain cleanliness to EPIC visitor experience.
Perform Museum opening and closing procedures.
Perform building maintenance and repairs as needed
Follow Museum calendar to ensure all A/V equipment is functional and in place as required for meetings, conferences and events
Understanding of preparation and procedures necessary to ensure the safety of those on the property as well as the property itself
Assists in executing security/emergency procedures for the Museum
Facilitate the evacuation of building during emergencies
Assist visitors/staff in case of emergency
Facilitate interdepartmental cooperation and collaboration, offering clear communication with an open, supportive, and collaborative relationship with supervisors, staff and visitors
Ensure high standards for janitorial services & consistent cleanliness throughout the Museum
Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs
QualificationsQualification/Requirements:
General knowledge of basic cleaning procedures and techniques
Ability to work quickly, effectively and responsibly without constant direction
Customer service skills, and the ability to interact courteously with visitors and staff
Comfortable working around children and large crowds
Working knowledge of power and hand tools, electric repair, painting and fabrication skills
Customer service skills, and the ability to interact both courteously and firmly with visitors
Working knowledge of safety regulations as they apply to technical processes
Professional and appropriate dress/demeanor (per dress code)
Education/Training/Experience:
High school graduate or GED in progress / required
Pass Criminal Background Check
Physical Requirements:

Environmental Requirements:
Must be able to work in a well-lighted, temperature-controlled work area. May also be exposed to extreme weather conditions with constant ambient noise levels. Must be able to work in open area with other employees. Employee must adhere to current company and CDC pandemic related guidelines.
