As HR Head in Costa Rica, you play a key role in translating BioMar’s global people strategy into strong local execution. You work closely with the Managing Director, leaders and employees to build a workplace where performance, compliance, engagement, and culture go hand in hand. This is a role with broad influence combined with hands-on execution in a multinational environment.
Drive a strong people agenda aligned with business and culture
In this role, you are the strategic business partner for the Costa Rican entity and carry full responsibility for the local HR agenda. You ensure that people, organization and leadership practices support both global objectives and local business needs, while fully respecting the Costa Rican context and regulations.
You will have a visible presence in the organization, acting as a trusted advisor to management on workforce, culture, HSE and organizational effectiveness. Through clear priorities, solid execution, and close collaboration, you help build an engaging workplace that supports long-term success. More specifically, you will:
Develop and execute the local HR strategy aligned with global corporate objectives and Costa Rican business needs.
Oversee the full talent lifecycle including workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, development, succession and retention – supporting the staff towards developing world-leading capabilities.
Ensure compliance with Costa Rican labor law, CCSS, INS, immigration and regulatory requirements, including managing disciplinary processes and terminations in partnership with legal counsel.
Manage annual performance reviews and company surveys, driving employee engagement.
Ensure accurate payroll operations and monitor core HR metrics.
Lead a small team and manage selected outsourced vendors.
Bring solid HR expertise and confidence
You bring several years of broad HR experience and are comfortable balancing strategic discussions with operational responsibility. You understand the importance of compliance, confidentiality and ethical conduct, and you communicate clearly and effectively with both leaders and employees.
You take ownership of issues, follow them through and collaborate closely with others to find sustainable solutions. Your approach is structured and pragmatic, and you use data and systems to support decision-making. We imagine that you have:
Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, psychology or a related field
Fluency in Spanish and English, both spoken and written
Strong knowledge of Costa Rican labor law and employment practices
Strong IT skills, preferably with experience using HRIS systems
If you have experience with HSE, it is an advantage, but not a requirement. You will be located in Cañas, Guanacaste.
A key role with broad influence
This role offers the opportunity to shape the people agenda of a Costa Rican organization that is part of a global, purpose-driven company. You will work closely with senior leaders, be part of BioMar’s global HR community and contribute to building world class HR practices. The position combines strategic influence with hands-on responsibility and offers a meaningful opportunity to develop both the organization and your own capabilities.
