Overview This position is responsible for assisting the supervisor in all duties, including communication with operations and management and solving or preventing any problems that might occur in the department. Also responsible for assisting in daily production goals and reporting, as well as ensuring a safe working environment for the team. Is a team player who actively participates and displays behaviors of the company values and leads department in replicating these behaviors.
Accountabilities • Be able to direct 3 to 4 people. • Familiarity with all equipment operations in department. • Assist in developing and communicating department goals. • Communicate with operation about possible problems or needs for the department. • Supervise, mentor, and assist other department employees as needed. • Keep track of preventative maintenance checklist. • Ability to learn operation of all equipment and assist in the operation of equipment within the department. • Oversee the activities of all employees as it relates to commodity tallies and keeping team members motivated. • Train future and present scale buyers. • Understand various metal grades and the process of sorting and grading within an element to produce a quality product. • Collect information concerning work in process and finished product. Accurately write up receiving reports. • Assist in daily, weekly, and monthly checks on accuracy of inventory. • Other duties as required.
Qualifications • High school diploma, with ongoing education. • Must have a valid driver’s license. • Supervisory experience or on the job training experience. • Mathematical and mechanical aptitude helpful. • Strong communications and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently as well as with others. • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. • Proven attention to accuracy and detail. • Must be safety conscious. • Must be willing to work in an outdoor environment. • Computer skills: able to print bills of lading and look up customer specific information.
