

This position is responsible for ensuring Northern Natural Gas compliance with local, state and federal environmental regulations associated with pipeline project development, permitting, construction and operations support.
Supports/Advises various departments and organizations concerning company compliance with environmental regulations.
Interprets applicable environmental laws, regulations and policies.
Develops and maintains necessary documentation related to environmental compliance programs.
Coordinates planning, environmental cost estimating and preparation of environmental impact assessments, biological resource protection and cultural resource evaluations.
Writes and edits comprehensive environmental reports for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
Prepares and submits applications to procure environmental permits, approvals, variances and other authorizations.
Monitors environmental regulatory initiatives and participates in their developmental process prior to rulemaking.
Serves as liaison to environmental regulatory agencies in support of company functions.
Coordinates the planning and implementation of waste management and remediation activities.
Coordinates the planning and implementation of the requirements of various agencies, such as the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act.
Conducts required environmental training and periodic employee awareness programs.
Performs environmental compliance audits and due diligence investigations.
Coordinates and manages environmental emergency response activities.
A bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or other related natural resource field or equivalent and 6+ years of environmental experience. (Typically four years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
Expert knowledge of environmental regulations and law, construction environmental mitigation methods, procedures and operational compliance requirements.
Knowledge of biological resources, water resources including wetland regulation and permitting, waste management, cultural resource regulation, endangered species, air quality, land use and agency negotiation or a combination of experience.
Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, presentation, and database computer applications. Proficiency in use of proprietary software such as financial tracking, invoice payment, and time reporting software.
Proficient math and writing skills, including spelling and grammar.
Ability to analyze, calculate, and judge data reports and records. Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to negotiate.
