Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, our Rail Fleet Maintenance Office is seeking an Equipment Officer to monitor the condition and performance of the locomotive and coach fleets in accordance with regulatory, maintenance schedules, corporate, and contractual standards.
What will I be doing?
Assisting in developing the requirements and scope of work criteria for the execution and completion of procurement and major overhaul programs for the locomotive and coach fleets.
Assisting in developing and recommending designs for implementation on new locomotive and coach equipment acquisitions.
Provides input during the establishment of maintenance schedules, procedures, enhancements, and retrofits for new and existing equipment.
Developing, recommending, and acting as Project Leader on major locomotive and coach modification programs.
Investigating locomotive and coach equipment problems and recommending corrective action.
Providing maintenance contractor(s) with technical support for locomotive and coach equipment.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
Completion of a diploma in Electrical /Electronic or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
Demonstrated experience in the maintenance, design and/or manufacturing of equipment used in railroad or transit operations.
Demonstrated experience working with Heavy locomotive maintenance and passenger railway operations and maintenance.
Demonstrated ability in the interpretation of system drawings including mechanical, electrical and structural drawings.
Good organizational, oral and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of rules and regulations established by Transport Canada (TC), the Federal Railway Administration (FRA) and the American Association of Railways (AAR).
Valid Ontario class “G” driver’s licence and meet the corporate standard for a good driving record.
Ability to obtain the Metrolinx Operator’s permit.
Microsoft Office Suite Experience (Pivot tables, Macros) would be considered an asset.
Microsoft PowerBI experience would be considered an asset.
Must successfully complete environmental, safety and any other training required by corporate policy.
LEAN fundamentals training and/or experience would be an asset.
