The Operations Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of ADP vessels and third-party vessel operations to ensure the timely, safe, and efficient delivery of services to clients across multiple ports and regions. The role oversees regional operational teams, including ship agents at respective local ports, ensuring consistent operational excellence at all locations.
This position plays a critical role in handling government shipment requests, chartering vessels, and ensuring that all operations are executed in full compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. The Operations Manager is also responsible for conducting internal operational audits to maintain performance and service quality.
In addition, the role requires close coordination with port authorities, clients, and other key stakeholders, as well as active collaboration with legal and insurance teams to ensure that all contractual, compliance, and risk management aspects are properly addressed and that operations run smoothly without disruption
1. Operational Management:
• Oversee and manage vessel operations for ADP and third-party vessels across multiple ports and regions, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely execution
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies
• Plan and coordinate government shipment requests, ensuring priority handling and compliance with relevant protocols
• Manage and oversee vessel chartering activities, including coordination with charterers, brokers, and service providers
• Conduct internal operational audits to ensure service quality, consistency, and continuous improvement
• Coordinate closely with internal departments (finance, commercial, ship management) to ensure seamless operational delivery
2. Client & Stakeholder Management:
• Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, government entities, and stakeholders
• Build and maintain strong relationships to ensure high levels of client satisfaction and long-term partnerships
• Ensure all services are delivered in line with contractual agreements
• Proactively managing client communications, addressing inquiries, issues, and feedback in a timely and professional manner
3. Port & Vessel Operations Coordination:
• Liaise with port authorities, terminal operators, customs officials, and other stakeholders to coordinate vessel arrivals, departures, and port services
• Ensure smooth coordination of cargo operations, including loading, unloading, and lashing activities where applicable
• Monitor vessel schedules, berth planning, and port conditions, providing timely updates to stakeholders
• Ensure full compliance with port regulations, safety standards, and security requirements across all operations
4. Financial & Commercial Management:
• Oversee financial performance of vessel operations, including budgeting, cost control, and revenue optimization
• Review and approve port disbursement accounts (PDA), invoices, and financial reports
• Identify opportunities for cost efficiency, improved margins, and business growth, including chartering opportunities
• Ensure accurate financial reporting and alignment with company objectives
5. Risk, Legal & Compliance Management:
• Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks related to vessel operations, including safety, regulatory, and financial risks
• Ensure full compliance with international maritime regulations, local laws, and company policies
• Coordinate with legal and insurance teams to ensure proper contract management, claims handling, and risk coverage
• Oversee incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions to prevent recurrence
• Promote a strong culture of safety, security, and environmental responsibility across all operations
• Bachelor's degree in maritime studies, logistics, business administration, or a related field. Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., Chartered Shipbroker, Certified Port Executive) may be advantageous.
• Several years of experience in vessel operations, with a proven track record of progressively responsible roles.
• Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members from diverse backgrounds.
• Sound knowledge of maritime industry practices, port operations, shipping regulations, and international trade.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to problem-solve and make data-driven decisions.
• Proficiency in relevant software applications and digital tools used in vessel operations, such as shipping software, and Microsoft Office suite.
• Written and spoken proficiency in English is essential
• A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a similar role
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
