Responsibilities:
NP or PAFull Time, Monday through Friday, primarily daytime hours, 8- or 10-hour shifts, ambulatory position
Exciting opportunity for an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work as a provider in an interdisciplinary patient care team with a large APP representation in the division of gastroenterology and hepatology. Providers in this position see a variety of gastrointestinal complaints with a focus on pre- and post-procedure management for patients who require advanced endoscopic procedures and chronic disease management of pancreaticobiliary diagnoses.
Primary responsibilities: direct patient care, treatment of acute illnesses and chronic symptom management in general GI patients with specific concentration in diseases of the pancreas, biliary tree. This includes performing (a) complete history and physicals, (b) follow-up office visits, (c) coordination and follow-up of diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, and endoscopic procedures, and (d) prescribing medications. Patient education, coordination of services and understanding of advanced endoscopic procedures are integral to this role which involves both collaborative and independent patient care. Participation in continuing education and career advancement opportunities encouraged. APP mentoring and support is available to all new hires. All APPs will complete a structured orientation/onboarding program to help position them for success in this role. Excellent communication skills and the ability to make independent decisions in the management of complex patients are a must. Must be NYS eligible for NP/PA certification.
Qualifications:
Nurse Practitioner
Require a Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.
Physician Assistant
Required completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)
NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
