Technique, Inc. is looking for a Purchasing Agent to join our team at our Jackson, Michigan facility. This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager and is responsible for negotiating vendor terms, prices, and scheduling delivery using knowledge of budget and schedule requirements. Working safely, working overtime, and flexibility in work schedule are essential functions of this position. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
The ideal candidate brings a minimum of 2 years of purchasing-related experience with knowledge of material grades, vendor negotiation, and purchase order management. Strong computer skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams are critical factors in this role.
Responsibilities – Purchasing Agent Level 1:
Obtain request for quotes – Obtain request for quotes from vendors using basic knowledge of material grades.
Confirm purchase orders – Ensure confirmation of each purchase order.
Ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams
Ability to prioritize work
Problem solving skills
Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to fumes or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, moving mechanical parts, industrial equipment, vibration, and loud noise
No travel expected for this position

Position Type and Expected Hours:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a minimum of 40 hours per week with overtime as needed. Note: days and hours required may vary. Flexibility is required in all positions.
