The role is responsible for driving inland operational excellence, network optimisation, and commercial alignment across rail and inland transport operations.
The position focuses on process standardisation, performance analytics, stakeholder coordination, and development of inland logistics solutions to support customer experience, equipment optimisation and inland growth.
- Analyse inland operational workflows and standardise processes to improve efficiency and service reliability.
- Work with Customer Service and Commercial teams to understand customer concerns and improve inland service delivery.
- Support inland growth initiatives by providing market intelligence, operational inputs and competitive insights.
- Identify opportunities to maximise equipment utilisation and reduce empty repositioning including cabotage opportunities.
- Support rail network optimisation and VDS development with rail operators and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure efficient rail-out operations including FIFO discipline at ICDs and terminals.
Coordinate with internal teams, rail operators, inland partners and global operational stakeholders.
Key Performance Indicators
- Inland operational efficiency improvements across ICD and rail corridors.
- Improvement of LAB (Load Acceptance Benchmark) and OTD (On-Time Delivery) performance.
- Effective management of long-stay containers including follow-up and destuffing coordination.
- Successful planning and execution of block train operations.
- Monitoring and follow-up of vendor rebates and commercial agreements.
- Reduction of empty container repositioning and improvement of equipment utilisation.
- Acting as operational focal point for ODEX liaison and coordination.
- Representation of Hapag-Lloyd at trade forums and relevant industry platforms.
- Participation in Area / Regional / Global operational initiatives
Skills & Competencies
- Strong written and verbal business communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel including analytical reporting and dashboards.
- Strong PowerPoint presentation and structured reporting capability.
- Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and operational partners.
- Strong planning, prioritisation and analytical problem-solving capability.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years relevant experience in container shipping, inland logistics, rail operations or supply chain management.
- Strong understanding of ICD operations, inland transport networks and equipment management.
- Experience working with operational systems such as FIS, Compass or similar logistics platforms
