About the Position
ATS Traffic is looking for a Drafting and Design Technician to join our team! This position will be responsible for designing and drafting traffic control drawings for projects throughout Canada, such as temporary work zones and detours. This role will also create Traffic Accommodation Strategies for internal and external clients.

Responsibilities
- Design Temporary Traffic Control (TTC)/Traffic Accommodation (2D) drawings in AutoCAD, aligned with appropriate jurisdictional manuals, standards and ATS practices
- Interpret real-world site conditions and translate them into safe, practical, and compliant traffic control plans
- Manage assigned requests from start to finish, including revisions, client feedback, and final delivery
- Coordinate with OSS, engineers, and internal teams to ensure drawings meet requirements for approval and stamping
- Review and incorporate City comments, date changes, and revisions with a sense of urgency
- Maintain accuracy and consistency across drawings, including proper layouts, notes, symbology, and standards
- Create supporting documentation such as traffic control strategies and written summaries where required
- Communicate clearly with coordinators, project managers, and stakeholders to resolve design questions and reduce back-and-forth
- Support team productivity by assisting other drafters, sharing knowledge, and maintaining drafting standards
- Follow internal workflows to ensure requests are tracked, delivered, and documented properly
- Continuously look for ways to improve efficiency, quality, and turnaround time in drafting processes
Qualifications
- 3-5 previous experience in the traffic or road safety/construction industry is an asset; Preference will be given to candidates who have completed the Alberta Construction Safety Association’s (ACSA's) Alberta Temporary Traffic Control (ATTC) course for Traffic Control Supervisor's is an asset
- Intermediate experience using AutoCAD designing and drafting experience
- Knowledge of vehicle tracking and Google Earth is an asset
- Understanding of temporary work zone designs construction phasing is an asset
- Exceptional working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook
