Course number and title: MIE1214S – Applied Computational Fluid Dynamics

Course description: The course is designed for Students with no or little CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) knowledge who want to learn CFD application to solve engineering problems. The course will provide a general perspective to the CFD and its application to fluid flow and heat transfer and it will teach the use of some of the popular CFD packages and provides Students will learn basics of CFD and will use that basic knowledge to learn Fluent Ansys CFD software. However it should be emphasized that software learning is not the objective of this class and it only will be used as a tool to teach student the concepts in a practical framework.

Sessional dates of appointment: January to April 2027

Salary: $15,000 (per half course inclusive of vacation pay) Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum qualifications: Applicants should have a strong record of presenting lectures or acting as a teaching assistant.  Applicants must be able to demonstrate considerable depth of knowledge and experience in the subject area.  All applicants should have excellent communication skills - both oral and written. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Limited License (LEL) is strongly preferred. Engineering Intern (EIT) is also acceptable. 

Description of duties: Preparation of lectures and course materials; delivery of lectures; supervision of Teaching Assistants; setting and marking of tests and exams; evaluation of final grades; contact with students.
