Job Title: Assistant Camp Director

Job Summary:
The Assistant Camp Director will play a vital role in the successful operation of our camp programs. This position involves organizing daily camp schedules for kids k-8th grade, leading training for counselors, and ensuring effective communication with parents and staff. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and passionate about creating a positive camp experience for children.
This role offers a full-time schedule during active camp sessions:
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and manage daily camp schedules to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist in leading training sessions for camp counselors to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
- Participate in the interview process and assist in hiring qualified counselors.
- Communicate effectively with parents and counselors regarding any issues or concerns.
- Make informed decisions about when to contact parents regarding camper issues.
- Handle situations involving sick campers and ensure proper cleanup and care.
- Lead and support camp counselors in their daily activities and responsibilities.
- Collaborate with other departments within the facility to ensure schedules align and run smoothly.
- Open and set up the concession stand for snack times and lunch, ensuring a welcoming environment.
- Retrieve and distribute snacks and lunches, coordinating with kitchen staff for special dietary needs.
- Manage the check-in and check-out process for campers to ensure safety and accountability.
- Develop and implement engaging activities for campers, including sports games, crafts, and coloring.
Requirements
- Previous experience in camp management or a related field is preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Passion for working with children and creating a positive camp environment.
- First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
