Summary The Apparatus Upfitting Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all facility operations at their assigned upfitting shop, which fabricates and installs equipment mounting solutions. This role provides direct leadership for the facility team members supporting end-to-end project execution, customer-facing coordination, facility scheduling, and managing a production environment. The production manager is critical in the success of the facility through fostering a culture of accountability, ensuring customer satisfaction, and producing a great product.
Duties and Responsibilities • Own day-to-day operations of your assigned upfitting production shop. • Oversee production operations, including workflow coordination, resource allocation, and adherence to schedules. • Maintain profit and loss statement accuracy and drive continuous improvement • Ensure on-time delivery, build quality, labor efficiency, and profitability across all projects. • Lead, mentor, and develop your facility staff ensuring consistent application of company policies and procedures. • Implement and monitor quality control processes, conduct regular audits, and drive corrective and preventive actions as needed. • Manage inventory, materials, and shop resources to support uninterrupted production. • Ensure all work meets quality standards and complies with industry regulations. • Manage inventory control systems, including ordering, receiving, tracking, and reporting of parts and materials. • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and other departments to optimize production processes and resolve operational issues. • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, enforcing safety protocols and best practices. • Participate in hiring, training, and performance evaluations for production staff. • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality products on time and addressing any issues promptly.
Qualifications • 5+ years of experience in production management, manufacturing, or upfitting operations, preferably in the automotive, emergency vehicle, or custom fabrication industry. • Proven leadership skills with experience managing multi-site teams. • Strong knowledge of quality control, inventory management, and safety standards. • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. • Effective verbal and written communication skills. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and production management software. • High attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement. • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and locations. • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. • Clean driving record; CDL preferred.
