Position: Youth League Basketball Coordinator Location: London and Middlesex YMCA Branches Start Date: May 2026 - Start ASAP End Date: May 31, 2027 Position Length: 1 Year Contract with the opportunity to continue, depending on future program demands and success Salary: $18.60/hour - approx 15 hours per week (each week may vary based on the demand/season of the program)

In this role, you will: • Coordinates and supports approximately 10–20 part-time staff in the development and delivery of the youth basketball program and services, collaborating with Child & Youth management as needed. • Recruits, schedules, and confirms coaching, referee, and site coverage to meet seasonal programming and attendance requirements. • Provides direction to all HFA sites delivering the program, including training, lesson plans, game-day procedures, and staffing support. • Develops weekly practice and game frameworks aligned with YMCA values, age-appropriate skill development, and inclusive participation. • Ensures program quality by observing sessions, coaching staff on best practices, and implementing continuous improvement based on feedback. • Reviews and follows YMCA policies and procedures, including child protection standards, emergency response, and privacy requirements. • Provides training and support to coaches, referees, and volunteers, including rules interpretation, positive coaching, and behaviour management. • Coordinates league operations (e.g., team formation, schedules, gym allocations, equipment needs, scorekeeping expectations, and incident reporting). • Communicates program information to families, participants, and staff (e.g., schedules, cancellations, site expectations) in a timely and professional manner. • Maintains accurate program records such as attendance, staff hours, training completion, incident/accident reports, and equipment inventories. • Supports registration and customer service by responding to inquiries, resolving concerns, and collaborating with branch/program teams to ensure a positive participant experience. • Conducts or supports performance check-ins and reviews in conjunction with Child & Youth management for staff development and feedback.
Education & Skills Qualifications: • Experience working with youth in a sports setting, either in program, coaching or refereeing • Knowledge of Basketball operations, rules, fundamentals or previous coaching experience is preferred • Current Standard First Aid & CPR • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening • A dedication to demonstrate the YMCA core values
