Cleveland Metroparks is seeking a part-time Custodian to join the opening team at the new Patrick S. Parker Community Sailing Center at the E. 55th Street Marina, ensuring the facility is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and readiness for all guests.
The ideal candidate is reliable, detail‑oriented, and takes pride in creating clean, safe, and welcoming spaces for visitors. They work well both independently and as part of a team and bring a strong sense of responsibility and professionalism to their work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facility Cleaning & Maintenance
- Maintain restroom cleanliness, restock supplies, and address clogged drains as needed
- Clean and vacuum interior floors, steps, and walkways
- Clean windows, screens, and doors throughout the facility
- Event & Program Support
- Set up and tear down rooms for programs, meetings, and event rentals
- Arrange tables, chairs, and equipment according to event needs
- Check lighting, audio/visual equipment, and general room condition
- Outdoor Upkeep
- Leaf-blow walkways, driveways, picnic areas, and pavilions
- Remove litter and debris from outdoor spaces and parking lots
- Refuse Removal & Supply Management
- Collect and remove trash, recyclables, and compost from designated areas
- Replace liners and clean bins as needed
- Transport cardboard and paper recyclables to outdoor collection areas
- Assist with ordering and maintaining custodial supplies
Qualifications
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. At least one year of professional custodial experience preferred.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to safely operate custodial and grounds‑maintenance equipment (e.g., vacuums, floor machines, leaf blowers) and follow proper procedures for using and storing cleaning chemicals and supplies
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with staff, visitors, and the general public
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, solve problems, and work independently
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
Work Days: Position is part-time up to 28 hours per week. Schedule varies, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the building’s operational needs. This position is expected to start in May to coincide with the opening of the new Patrick S. Parker Community Sailing Center.
