

The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) is a dedicated museum that showcases the exquisite artefacts from Palace Museum’s collections and collaborates with other museums in research, exhibitions, education and public programmes. The museum comprises 7 800 square metres of gallery space for standing and special exhibitions on Palace Museum’s collections of paintings, calligraphy, antiquities and historical objects, as well as thematic displays on world cultures and civilisations.
We are seeking a dynamic and commercially driven Senior Manager, Museum Retail to lead the HKPM retail team in product development and retail operations. Reporting to Head, Museum Retail and Venue Sales, you will play a pivotal role in generating sustainable revenue to support museum operations.
In this leadership role, you will contribute to shaping the visitor experience, forge new business partnerships, drive cross-border e-commerce expansion, and develop thematic merchandise that resonates with both local and international audiences.
You will be responsible for:
leading the HKPM retail team in product development and day-to-day retail operations. Support the Head of Retail in executing retail, IP partnership, and commercial strategies to drive retail income;
conducting market research to develop a thematic merchandise hierarchy. Lead end-to-end product development from concept to launch, maximising revenue while strengthening the museum brand;
developing and managing distribution networks across Hong Kong for both offline and online channels. Lead cross-border e-commerce strategies and collaborate with other business units to expand brand presence;
formulating licensing agreements in close collaboration with the legal team to protect the museum's brand and maximise commercial opportunities;
procurement and supplier management, including managing supplier orders, invoicing, delivery logistics, financial filings, and ensuring accurate documentation and compliance;
leading sales planning and reporting effort with forecasting, monitor performance against KPIs, and prepare regular management reports. Oversee budgets and work with stakeholders to ensure P&L targets are met;
initiating bundle partnerships with Ticketing in close coordination with the relevant teams to drive cross-selling and increase visitor traffic;
monitoring the performance of museum shop operators and external partners, providing clear direction to ensure predefined targets are achieved; and
performing any duties from time to time as reasonably as assigned by HKPM.
You should:
possess a recognised university degree in business management or other relevant fields of study;
have at least 10 years of relevant experience in lifestyle retail, museum, theme park, and/or commercial sectors;
possess relevant experience in Asian cultural or lifestyle retail operation or commercial field with proven track record in developing the brand presence internationally;
have experience in developing and managing distribution networks in Hong Kong for offline and online shops, as well as implementing e-commerce strategies in Hong Kong, China, or other Asian markets;
have hands-on experience in formulating licensing agreements, IP rights and working with legal teams;
be flexible, adaptive to change, creative and presentable;
have strong numeric sense and good business acumen;
have effective influencing and negotiation skills;
possess positive and can-do attitude, be able to multi-task and work under high pressure environment; and
possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in both English and Chinese, knowledge of Putonghua is an advantage.
