Job Description:
The Senior Hardware Quality Engineer (Sr. HQE) will be responsible for providing technical guidance and direction to Junior HQE and outsource test labs to meet the product testing needs of the organization, including developing test plans and test specifications based on functional and technical product specifications. Work collaboratively with Product Development Management (PDM), Program Management (PGM), Industrial Design (ID), Engineering and Design Assurance (DA) teams to identify design solutions to issues discovered during product testing and ensure that all products meet all established requirements before release. Ensure that the test results are thorough and clear, so that sound decisions can be made. Individual will be a key hands-on contributor in the product development life-cycle.
Sr. HQE will also work closely with PDM, PGM and Engineering/DA to proactively identify design improvements, to address process issues, facilitate continuous improvement and document resolution procedures.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement test plans, test specifications, procedures, and methodologies to test the products robustly.
- Maintain hands on expertise with a variety of test equipment to ensure compliance with product specifications and requirements can be confirmed.
- Work with the Senior team members to collaborate and help execute test cases.
- Theoretical knowledge and testing experience of following interfaces; Power/data connecting interfaces like USB type A and USB-C in addition to USB-Power Delivery protocols, Audio/ video interfaces such as Thunderbolt, Display Port and HDMI interfaces.
- Hands on experience in using macOS, Windows 10 and above, Android and iOS
- Interpret product technical EE and FW specifications to design appropriate testing requirements and testing setup.
- Establish testing specifications for all technical requirements and must be able to work with all test equipment to verify system level as well as component level product specifications.
- Publish test reports/results to provide reliable information in a clear and concise manner that can be utilized for making sound engineering choices.
- Work collaboratively with DA, Engineering and PDM groups to provide inputs to Product Functional Specifications.
- Work with all functional groups to ensure that lessons learned are captured and incorporated into new product designs and development processes.
- Should provide weekly updates to the Engineering/DA teams.
- Attend all cross functional meetings and represent HWQE requirements for their projects
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in using MS office.
- Plan all technical test cases, work with all test equipment to verify system level and component level product specifications.
- Participate in design reviews to offer design solutions to failures and anomalies uncovered during product testing
- Assist in the procurement of test equipment and commercial test software where applicable to support test requirements.
- Improve efficiency in test execution, data reporting and bug tracking.
- Work closely on the FMEA, Root cause analysis and CTQ requirements with the PQE team.
- Should be a Subject Matter Expertise(SME) for USB Type C Power Delivery (PD) enabled chargers, HDMI, passive and active cables, Wireless Charging and Surge products.
- Guide the HQEs and Jr HQEs on the technical testing requirements.
- Investigate and establish SME on new technologies and test methodologies.
- Respond to Agile related requests approvals.
- Travel overseas and work with suppliers and help the Belkin DA team to audit the testing capabilities and quality standards during development and production.
- Provide key inputs to the supplier assessment and supplier reporting cards.
- Able to work directly with Customer Advocacy teams to communicate product issues and align on the testing requirements and equipment needs.
- Fulfill responsibilities under ISO 9001; understand and fully support IS0 system.

- Detailed understanding of various Operating Systems in both desktop and server environments (Windows 7/8, macOS, OS X, Linux, Android, iOS etc.)
- Experience in testing most of the following technologies:
- Thunderbolt (v1, v2, v3)
- USB (microUSB 2.0. 3.1, type A 3.0, type A 3.1, USB-C)
- HDMI (v1.4, v2.0, v2.1)
- Display Port - DP1.4
- WiFi 802.11n interface
- Ethernet 802.3
- Test Automation experience is a plus
- Enthusiasm for latest devices Apple products is a plus.
- Communication/Collaboration
- Excellent Mandarin and English verbal and written communication skills.
- Energized by teamwork and collaboration and is passionate about working hand in hand with engineers and designers to produce quality products.
- Proven success in performing, documenting, and communicating risk based on formal risk analysis methodologies.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering required, MS degree a plus. Able to quickly grasp technical product quality issues, failure analysis reports, test reports, and technical engineering / design solutions.
- 5-7 years of demonstrated experience in Quality Assurance or Test Engineering roles.
