We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to strengthen our internal data engineering capability, supporting our UAE operations while working closely with our UK-based team. This role will play a key part in developing robust data infrastructure and systems, ensuring our data pipelines are reliable, scalable, and efficient.
Reporting to the Executive Director – Middle East and working under the direction of the Head of Data & Spatial Intelligence, you will design and build data solutions that support advanced analytics and modelling. You will collaborate with a range of stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into practical, high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure
- Transform large and complex datasets to enable rapid analysis and insight generation
- Develop and optimise ETL processes to ensure data accuracy, reliability, and usability
- Implement data flows connecting operational systems, analytics platforms, and business intelligence tools
- Automate data processing workflows to improve efficiency and repeatability
- Re-engineer manual data processes to support scalability
- Contribute to the development of data streaming capabilities
- Produce and maintain clear documentation, including source-to-target mappings
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality data solutions
- Support the development of business intelligence outputs for a range of stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to improve existing data processes and implement enhancements
Requirements
Essential
- Relevant experience in a Data Engineering or similar role
- Strong experience with AWS (including EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, Redshift)
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake
- Strong programming skills in Python (or similar such as Java, Scala, C#, or R)
- Experience in back-end development
- Proven ability to design and implement data infrastructure for analytics and modelling
- Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines and data warehousing solutions
- Solid understanding of relational and dimensional data modelling
- Experience working with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD practices
- Experience building with AI technologies or integrating AI into data solutions
- Experience with augment code tooling (leveraging AI-assisted development tools to build or enhance solutions)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Desirable
- Experience with Databricks or Apache Spark
- Exposure to data streaming systems
- Experience working with geospatial data
- Experience producing business intelligence reports for varied audiences
- Previous experience in a Solutions Architect or similar leadership role
- AI-related certifications (e.g. machine learning, AI engineering, or data science)
