We are recruiting for a Manager, Markets and International Business to join the Clients & Markets team in our Toronto office. The successful candidate must have a minimum of five years of experience in business development and marketing in a professional services environment and will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of business development support covering priority international markets and cross-border growth initiatives. The newly formed Markets and International Business team is seeking a self-starter who will combine strong business development acumen with operational leadership to help turn strategy into measurable results. This is an opportunity to shape and scale an evolving business development function in a leading professional services environment, working closely with the Senior Director, Markets and International Business, senior stakeholders and a high-performing team to deliver growth-oriented initatives.
Salary Range: $120,000 - $135,000 annually
The offered salary may vary based on the candidate’s job-specific knowledge, skills, and experience.
As a Manager, Markets and International Business, you will be:
- Leading team delivery and service standards: Managing daily intake and triage of international business development support requests, and assigning work based on scope, complexity, and capacity. Coaching team members to ensure consistent quality, strong client service, and timely delivery. Acting as the primary escalation point for priorities, timelines, and stakeholder expectations, partnering with the Senior Director as needed. Acting as dedicated support personnel for more complex BD requirements.
- Delivering international campaigns, events, and sponsorship benefits: Leading execution of firm-hosted events, conference participation, and regional initiatives. Managing key international sponsorships and memberships (including the International Bar Association), ensuring strong planning, coordination, and follow-through.
- Executing content and market messaging: Applying approved market positioning and differentiation messaging across channels (events, sponsorship materials, website updates, targeted communications, media opportunities, and social platforms). Partnering with our Communications team to develop, refine, and produce market-ready content. Support new business opportunities by developing and maintaining tailored cross-border capability and experience content.
- Leading select directory and awards submissions to support the firm’s profile in priority international markets.
- Supporting international business development meetings and planning sessions.
- Compiling and synthesizing periodic market and client intelligence in priority regions to inform strategy and planning.
- Managing the international business development and marketing budget, including tracking, forecasting, and vendor/partner coordination where applicable.
- Leading and contributing to special projects as needed.
As our ideal candidate, you will distinguish yourself by the following profile:
- University degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related discipline.
- Five to seven years of business development and marketing experience in the professional services industry, preferably business law (partnership or matrix environment).
- Experience supporting professionals in the execution of business development and marketing strategies, with an understanding of cross-border business development.
- Experience influencing and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement strategic programs aligned with business objectives.
- Proven capacity to balance strategic vision with operational execution and deliver on large and complex initiatives. Formal project management/training is an asset.
- Strong client service mindset, sound judgment, and experience working with (and presenting to) senior leaders.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; bilingual language skills are an asset (any language).
- Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, high-pressure situations, and tight deadlines.
