Buyers Assistant - Australian Design
Join David Jones as a Buyers Assistant and play an essential role in curating the fashion collections that inspire our customers across Australia and work alongside our experienced buying team to source and select the latest trends in Australian designed womenswear.
About the Opportunity
This permanent position offers you the chance to develop your career in retail buying while working with renowned local brands. You'll gain hands-on experience in product selection, vendor management, and market analysis within Australia's leading premium department store.
What You'll Do
- Support buyers in product selection and range planning across our Australian design categories
- Maintain supplier relationships and assist with vendor communications
- Analyse sales data and market trends to inform buying decisions
- Coordinate sample management and product development processes
- Assist with budget planning and inventory management
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior management
- Collaborate with merchandising and marketing teams on product launches
What We're Looking For
- Genuine passion for fashion and retail trends
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Previous retail, buying, or merchandising experience preferred
- Tertiary qualification in business, fashion, or related field advantageous
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
