The Role
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Packaging Engineer / Packaging Designer to join our Product Development team. This role will be responsible for developing, improving, and managing packaging solutions that align with product requirements, regulatory standards, and brand identity.
You will work closely with Product Development, Regulatory, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure packaging is functional, compliant, cost-effective, and visually aligned with our global brand.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop primary and secondary packaging for pharmaceutical and personal care products
- Ensure packaging meets regulatory requirements (e.g. labelling, compliance standards)
- Collaborate with Product Development and Marketing teams to align packaging with product positioning and branding
- Manage packaging specifications, materials, and technical documentation
- Coordinate packaging testing (e.g. stability, compatibility, transport validation)
- Work with suppliers to source packaging materials and optimise cost and quality
- Support artwork development and approval processes
- Identify opportunities for packaging innovation, sustainability, and cost optimisation
- Ensure packaging solutions are compatible with manufacturing and logistics processes
Requirements
- Degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 1–3 years of experience in packaging development or design (pharma, FMCG, or personal care preferred)
- Knowledge of packaging materials, printing processes, and regulatory requirements
- Experience working with suppliers and production teams
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in design tools (e.g. Adobe Illustrator, ArtiosCAD) is an advantage
- Good organisational and project management skills
- Ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment
- Must have the right to live and work in Malta
