Position Summary
BB&E is currently looking for an experienced, self-motivated, and detail-oriented Construction Inspector (Entry, Mid, and Senior Level) to support the 35th Civil Engineer Squadron (35 CES) at Misawa Air Base, Japan. This role is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality and compliance of construction projects in support of Air Force infrastructure programs.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform construction inspections to verify compliance with contract drawings, specifications, and applicable codes
- Execute quality assurance (QA/QC) activities across all phases of construction
- Monitor contractor performance, schedules, and workmanship quality
- Identify deficiencies, safety concerns, and non-compliant work and document findings
- Review submittals, RFIs, and progress reports for accuracy and completeness
- Support project closeout activities including DD1354 and as-built documentation
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and government stakeholders
- Maintain detailed inspection records, reports, and supporting documentation
- Provide daily/weekly inspection reports and input to Monthly Status Reports (MSR)
- Assist in resolving construction issues and tracking corrective actions
Requirements
Key Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Government Security Clearance (NACI) is required
- Strong knowledge of construction inspection practices and QA/QC procedures
- Familiarity with DoD construction standards (UFC/UFGS) and safety regulations
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey concepts to diverse audiences
- Software: Proficiency using MS Office software including Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint and advanced Adobe skills preferred
- Self-Starter: Highly motivated to improve organizational efficiency, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines autonomously
Experience & Education
• Experience: A minimum of three (3) to ten (10) years in construction inspection.
• Education: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management field.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform desk work for extended periods, including sitting and using a computer.
- Ability to walk and navigate varied facilities, including construction areas and uneven terrain.
- Fieldwork might require bending, stooping, and kneeling to access and inspect facilities in confined or difficult-to-reach areas.
