

POSITION SUMMARY: As part of the Corporate Safety Department, this position is responsible for owning the driver compliance lifecycle and training experience, including onboarding/orientation, road testing, Hours of Service (HOS) compliance, and ongoing regulatory adherence. This role ensures that all drivers meet Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and internal standards through structured training, auditing, and performance monitoring.
In addition to compliance execution, the role leverages data to identify trends, improve driver performance, and enhance training effectiveness. The position works cross-functionally with operations and safety leadership while producing clear, actionable reporting for management and executive teams. Success in this role requires strong system proficiency, analytical capability, and the ability to translate data into meaningful compliance and training outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Driver Compliance & Training Ownership
· Own and administer the driver onboarding and orientation program, ensuring a consistent, compliant, and effective new-hire experience.
· Coordinate and/or conduct driver road tests, documenting results and ensuring qualification standards are met.
· Oversee Hours of Service (HOS) compliance, including monitoring, auditing, and coaching drivers and operations on proper usage.
· Develop, implement, and manage ongoing driver training programs, including monthly safety training and remedial/coaching programs based on performance trends.
· Ensure compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and internal policies across all driver-related activities.
Driver Qualification & Regulatory Compliance
· Audit and maintain Driver Qualification Files (DQFs) to ensure adherence to hiring and regulatory requirements.
· Manage recurring compliance requirements including Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs), Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse queries, and other mandated checks.
· Administer random drug and alcohol testing programs, ensuring timely completion and follow-up with operations.
· Track and support resolution of DOT inspection findings and CSA-related issues.
Systems Administration & Technology
· Administer and support driver-related compliance systems, including:
o Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs)
o On-board camera systems
o Driver training platforms (LMS)
o Compliance and audit platforms
· Serve as a subject matter resource for system usage, troubleshooting, and process improvement.
Data Analysis & Reporting
· Develop, generate, and analyze driver compliance and safety data to identify trends, gaps, and training opportunities.
· Create and deliver regular and ad hoc reports to safety leadership and executive management.
· Partner with operations and safety leaders to translate data insights into actionable training and compliance improvements.
· Support broader safety and compliance reporting needs as directed.
Additional Responsibilities
· Conduct periodic audits to ensure operational adherence to policies and procedures.
· Assist with regulatory filings such as 2290, M.I.S. reporting, IFTA, state weight and distance taxes, SmartWay, and CARB.
· Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED:
· Bachelor’s Degree with 3–5 years of experience in a role involving data analysis, compliance, or safety; OR
· 7–10 years of relevant experience in safety, compliance, operations, or data analysis.
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
· Experience working across multiple systems and managing data integrity.
PREFERRED:
· Experience in transportation safety, driver compliance, or fleet operations.
· Working knowledge of FMCSR, HOS regulations, and driver qualification requirements.
· Experience with driver training programs, orientation processes, or LMS platforms.
