About the Team
The Reno based π-Studio is responsible for the development of entertaining land-based slot machines. The studio is part of Bluberi's R&D department, which includes other development teams in the US and Canada. Our game development team is comprised of enthusiastic and experienced professionals across multiple disciplines including mathematics, visual arts, software engineering, game design, audio engineering, and quality assurance. We work in a hybrid model to ensure effective iteration of creative content on target hardware while providing personal flexibility and work efficiency.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
Bluberi is seeking a highly motivated individual who has a passion for mathematics and slot machines to be part of the math team in our Reno Studio
The Mathematician I supports a team of developers and artists producing video casino games by creating fresh game content and iterating on current gameplay formulas, to deliver high quality, captivating and performing games.
Essential Functions
Creation and validation of game math and supporting tools
With regular supervision, develop math models for different markets, including, but not limited to Class III, Class II, and HHR. Review outcomes for all game specific metrics and adjust models as needed to hit targets. Ensure parity of model and game experience across different markets.
With regular supervision, guide proper implementation of math into game builds and systems through clear documentation and discussions. With guidance, complete required documentation for certification labs and operators. Help to validate prize outcomes in the field when requested.
Develop in-house simulations and theoretical calculations with frequent assistance and support from colleagues.
Gain experience with existing math tools and use them competently to generate necessary math files. With assistance, create and validate new game mechanics by developing or evolving tools, such as C# applications.
Active participation in the game design process
Participate in idea generation and conceptualization efforts. Contribute to game design efforts for basic games. Regularly review games in development and provide feedback when requested. Join the game design team on regular outings to local casinos to learn the current gaming market.
Evaluate game design to define a clear pathway for math production. Work with experienced mathematicians to ensure all design aspects are cohesive with an exciting math model, given system, mathematical, and jurisdictional restraints.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of internal products. Review competitive market research to build industry knowledge.

Required education and experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or Statistics or relevant experience in lieu.
Familiar with and can apply Combinatorics, Probability Theory and Statistics.
Proficiency with C#, C++ or similar languages used to create math validation tools.
Exposure to version control systems, such as Git and SVN.
Demonstrated ability to work with Excel spreadsheets.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Good people skills. Works well with creative conflict in a consensus-based, collaborative environment.
Shows dedication to continuous learning and contributes to improving the studio and organization. Spends regular time on self-improvement that provides value to the organization.
Preferred education and experience
Basic understanding of the casino gaming industry preferred.
