About the Role We are looking for an AI Engineer – Automation to join our R&D team and help shape the way Signant Health operates. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building intelligent automation that makes a real difference — reducing manual effort, improving accuracy, and enabling our teams to focus on what matters most. You will design and deliver AI-powered workflows and agents using Python, n8n, and leading LLM APIs — integrating them into the systems our business depends on every day. Working within the AI team and reporting to the Head of AI, you will apply prompt engineering, build evaluation frameworks, and continuously improve automation performance. What You Will Do Build and optimise automation • Design and develop AI agents and automation workflows using n8n and Python • Build integrations with internal systems, third-party APIs, and enterprise applications • Implement document processing, data extraction, and content generation pipelines • Develop and deploy LLM-based agents for specific business automation use cases • Write clean, well-documented code and contribute to code reviews Measure and improve performance • Develop evaluation methods to measure agent accuracy, reliability, and output quality • Build and maintain monitoring dashboards for production automation workflows • Apply prompt and context engineering techniques to improve automation outcomes • Troubleshoot failures and drive continuous improvement Support model development • Evaluate and select LLMs and SLMs appropriate for automation use cases • Implement RAG patterns for knowledge-intensive tasks • Assist with fine-tuning and model customisation for domain-specific applications • Stay current with emerging AI technologies and recommend practical applications Collaborate and contribute • Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences • Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and team learning • Participate in agile ceremonies and support onboarding of new team members • Follow Signant Health's security policies and healthcare data handling standards Preferred Qualifications • 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong Python proficiency • 2+ years of hands-on experience with workflow automation platforms (n8n, Zapier, Make, Airflow, or similar) • Solid experience with RESTful APIs, webhooks, and system integration patterns • Working knowledge of prompt engineering techniques for production systems • Experience developing and implementing tests and evaluations for software systems • Proficiency with Git and CI/CD concepts • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field — or equivalent demonstrated expertise Desired Qualifications • Experience building and deploying AI/ML applications in production environments • Familiarity with modern AI frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, or Strands • Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, and RAG architectures • Experience with AWS services (Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, Bedrock) — AWS certifications a plus • Familiarity with containerisation (Docker) and cloud deployment • Experience with enterprise integrations (Salesforce, ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence) • Background in natural language processing or document processing • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or clinical trials industry
