The Telecoms Engineer will be responsible for the supporting telecommunications design as part of a team, monitoring implementation, and site coordination of telecommunications infrastructure for a large-scale data centre development/s. This role ensures that all telecom systems meet project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements while supporting seamless transition to operations. A key part of the role will be to coordinate with the internationally based Telecoms Team.
Main Responsibilities:
Conduct site inspections to verify adherence of installation of telecom infrastructure including structured cabling, fibre optic links, patch panels, and racks to design and quality standards.
Review Shop Drawings submissions for accuracy and compliance.
Review As-Built Drawings submissions for accuracy and compliance.
Ensure compliance with relevant standards (TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC, BICSI) and local regulations.
Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and IT design teams to ensure integrated solutions.
Review of testing and commissioning of telecom systems (OTDR, power meter, continuity tests) data.
Liaise with contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues promptly.
Liaise with international design teams to resolve technical issues promptly.
Monitor progress and report on risks, delays, and mitigation strategies.
Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance during site activities.
Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 7 years’ experience in telecom design and site delivery, preferably in data centre or mission-critical environments.
