EmPower is Lancashire’s dedicated contextual safeguarding service, working alongside young people aged 12–18 who may be experiencing harm beyond the family home. This can include exploitation, peer‑on‑peer harm, missing episodes, unsafe peer groups, or risks linked to community spaces and online environments.
At the heart of EmPower is a belief in young people’s strengths and potential. We work in a trauma‑informed and relational way, taking time to truly listen, build trust, and understand each young person’s lived experience. By placing their voice, relationships, and wider community context at the centre of our work, we support safer choices and more positive outcomes.
Lancashire is more than just a place to work—it’s a county we’re proud to serve. As the fourth largest local authority in the UK and the largest in the North, we support 1.2 million residents through a wide range of forward‑thinking and impactful services.
A career in Children’s Services is both demanding and incredibly rewarding. We know that to deliver the best outcomes for children and families, we must also look after our workforce. That’s why we foster a supportive, reflective culture and invest in continuous professional development, high‑quality supervision, and staff wellbeing.
Every new recruit becomes part of our well‑established Social Work Academy—one of the first of its kind in the country. The Academy is designed to help you feel confident, supported, and prepared from day one.
