As the Pastry Chef, you will be the creative and technical expert behind RIU Swahili Zanzibar’s pastry and bakery excellence. From crafting exquisite desserts to leading a team of talented bakers, this role is perfect for a passionate artisan who blends innovation, precision, and artistry to deliver world-class sweet experiences that captivate every guest.
💼 What You’ll Do
• Lead the Pastry Section: Oversee the daily operations of the pastry and bakery areas, ensuring consistency, creativity, and high-quality standards in every creation.
• Innovate Dessert Menus: Design and execute dessert menus that balance creativity and flavor, incorporating international trends, local ingredients, and seasonal inspiration.
• Ensure Consistent Quality: Supervise production, presentation, and portioning of all pastry items, maintaining the RIU commitment to culinary excellence.
• Train and Inspire Teams: Mentor pastry cooks and bakers, developing their skills, creativity, and efficiency within a collaborative, high-performance environment.
• Maintain Hygiene and Safety: Enforce HACCP standards and kitchen safety procedures, ensuring an impeccably clean and organized work environment.
• Cost and Inventory Management: Monitor ingredient usage, minimize waste, and contribute to cost efficiency through effective stock control and supplier coordination.
• Collaborate Across Departments: Partner with Executive and Sous Chefs, Restaurant Managers, and F&B leaders to deliver cohesive and memorable dining experiences.
✔️ What We’re Looking For
• Proven Experience: Demonstrated experience as a Pastry Chef or senior Pastry Sous Chef in a luxury or five-star hotel or resort.
• Creative Excellence: Deep passion for pastry arts with an eye for presentation, innovation, and modern dessert trends.
• Strong Leadership: Ability to manage and develop a multicultural pastry team, fostering a positive and productive atmosphere.
• Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of baking science, chocolate work, sugar craft, and modern pastry techniques.
• Quality-Driven: Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to maintaining RIU’s high culinary standards.
• Adaptability: Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining efficiency and precision in high-volume environments.
