About Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run is a nonprofit program for girls in grades 3–8 that combines physical activity with life skills development, culminating in a celebratory 5K. The program builds confidence and promotes lifelong health.
Position Summary
The Program Coordinator supports program growth and delivery across Suffolk County by recruiting schools and volunteers, managing relationships, and ensuring high-quality program execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit and retain program sites, volunteers, and participants
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, coaches, and community partners
- Coordinate seasonal logistics, communications, and materials
- Support and monitor sites through regular communication and visits
- Manage registration, attendance, and data tracking (Pinwheel)
- Maintain program systems and create outreach materials
- Ensure program quality and compliance with organizational standards
- Represent the organization at community events
Qualifications
Required
- Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.)
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adaptable
- Passion for youth development
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- Availability for some after-school hours, evenings, and local travel
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (education, nonprofit, marketing, outreach, etc.)
- Experience in program coordination, outreach, sales, or volunteer management
- Familiarity with Long Island schools and communities

This is a full-time position offering $19-$21 per hour (annual equivalent of $39,520-$43,680).
