Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Protection Coordinator and the Protection Officer, and under the direct supervision of the Senior Protection Associate in Zarzis, the incumbent will assist the daily functioning of assigned shelter and of follow-up with beneficiaries.
Act as general focal point for daily communication on site, responding to routine queries and referring issues to the supervisor, as required.
Support the handling of shelter-related information, including data collection on activities and service provision, and sharing information with beneficiaries and stakeholders.
Support activities that encourage the participation of shelter beneficiaries with particular emphasis on the inclusion of women, unaccompanied migrants’ children, persons with specific needs, including migrants with health needs and migrants with disabilities into decision-making processes.
Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
High school diploma with four years of relevant work experience; or
Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Development, International Relations, Political Sciences or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
Experience in supporting operations, assistance to migrants, and humanitarian work.
Previous experience working in a similar position.
Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and keep deadlines.
Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment.
Skills
Good communication skills, teamwork, personal commitment, efficiency and flexibility.
Ability to follow instructions.
Proficient use of commonly used IT equipment and the appropriate software solutions.
Willingness to travel and work under difficult conditions.
Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
