POSITION SUMMARY
The Electrical Sourcing Specialist is responsible for researching electrical products and components, negotiating pricing, establishing Special Pricing Agreements (SPAs), managing supplier contracts, obtaining competitive quotes, confirming supplier lead-times, and ensuring product availability to satisfy customer and project requirements.
This role specializes in industrial electrical, oil & gas, automation, power distribution, and control system components. The Electrical Sourcing Specialist collaborates closely with Inside Sales, Sales, Project Managers, Electrical Operations, Engineering, and Purchasing.
This position reports to the Purchasing Manager with oversight from the Supply Chain Manager. This role requires strong technical aptitude in electrical products, demonstrated negotiation expertise, and proven experience managing supplier pricing structures and agreements.
Requirements
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research and obtain quotes, lead-times, and availability for electrical products based on customer and project requests
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and supply agreements with manufacturers and distributors
- Establish, manage, and track Special Pricing Agreements (SPAs) with key suppliers
- Review, negotiate, and maintain supplier contracts and pricing schedules
- Source materials including but not limited to: switchgear, MCCs, transformers, VFDs, PLCs, instrumentation, wire & cable, conduit, fittings, enclosures, and automation components
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through contract leverage, volume discounts, and strategic supplier relationships
- Evaluate alternative manufacturers and substitute products when supply constraints arise
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of electrical supply chains within oil & gas and industrial sectors
- Create and maintain a database of preferred and alternative electrical suppliers by product category
- Establish new part numbers within ERP software and initiate new supplier setup
- Enter supplier part data including manufacturer part numbers, lead-times, and vendor pricing into ERP software
- Prepare and process purchase orders for non-stocked electrical materials
- Coordinate with Electrical Operations to confirm specifications and project timelines
- Track and report sourcing activity metrics, supplier performance, and realized savings to Management
- Support quarterly inventory counts and cycle counts
- Prioritize continuous improvement initiatives to improve sourcing performance and supplier relationships
- Maintain a professional, solution-oriented approach in high-demand situations
- Perform other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work within an office and/or warehouse environment with various temperature ranges throughout the year
- Ability to speak and hear clearly in English while communicating professionally with suppliers, associates, and management
- Ability to utilize hands/legs/body to operate a computer, utilize general warehouse equipment such as warehouse stairs, and carry/move product/boxes throughout all areas of the facility
- Ability to work for prolonged periods sitting/standing at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to Ability to lift 50 pounds
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
COMPETENCIES
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical components and automation systems
- Proven experience negotiating pricing agreements and supplier contracts
- Demonstrated experience establishing and managing Special Pricing Agreements (SPAs)
- Strong analytical and cost-comparison skills
- Ability to read and interpret electrical specifications and drawings
- Strong organizational skills, prioritization, and time management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
- Hands-on knowledge of ERP/accounting software (e.g., Prophet 21, SAP, Epicor)
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- 4–6 years of experience in electrical sourcing, electrical distribution, or industrial procurement
- Demonstrated experience negotiating supplier pricing, SPAs, and contracts
STRONGLY PREFERRED
- 3+ years sourcing industrial electrical or automation components
- Experience in oil & gas upstream/midstream environments
- Experience in manufacturing or distribution
- Hands-on experience with Epicor Prophet 21
