What You’ll Do

In this role, your ability to build strong relationships and influence strategic direction will have a meaningful and lasting impact. As Funder Liaison Support Officer, you’ll be the vital connection between Europe PMC and its international funder community—shaping how we communicate, collaborate, and grow together. You’ll lead on delivering clear, engaging, and targeted communications that not only keep funders informed on progress, but actively strengthen their connection to—and investment in—our mission. From supporting funders to facilitating meaningful conversations about future direction, you’ll ensure every interaction adds value. Collaboration will be at the heart of your day-to-day work. Partnering closely with the Content Project Lead, you’ll gain deep insight into core services such as the manuscript submission and grant systems, as well as the helpdesk that supports our global users. You’ll also work alongside product and developer teams, building a strong understanding of both current capabilities and future innovations—translating these into compelling messages that resonate with funders. By aligning your work with outreach and engagement activities, you’ll help create a seamless and impactful external presence.

Looking ahead, you’ll play a key role in shaping what comes next. Working with the Principal Investigator, you’ll help identify and develop new funder opportunities, contributing to the continued growth and sustainability of Europe PMC. You’ll also be instrumental in delivering high-quality events, such as the Annual General Meeting, and engage in funder consultations, ensuring they are engaging, insightful, and drive forward our shared ambitions.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead the outreach and engagement program of current and potential Europe PMC funders

• Enhance existing funder newsletter and funder-specific webinars to deliver relevant updates and enhance engagement with this community                                                                   

• Organise the Funder Annual General Meeting (AGM), facilitating effective participation and engagement

• Identify and scope new funder opportunities aligned with strategic priorities

• Support the onboarding of new funders, helping them maximise the value of their membership

• Support existing funders through helpdesk ticket responses

• Coordinate grant reporting activities

You will have 

• Hands-on relationship management experience with funders, stakeholders, or relevant scientific organisations within the non-profit, charity, or public service sectors

• Experience of working in an open science or research communications context and awareness of current trends in open science

• Alongside strong writing and editing skills, you should also have a good understanding of the latest digital communications channels and tools

• Ability to deliver messages to a range of audiences at differing levels of understanding or technical background

You may also have

• Data analysis experience

• Familiarity with scientific grant funding cycles and requirements, from application to reporting

• Experience of planning effective communication and promotional campaigns and measuring their success

Contract length: 3 year fixed term contract

Salary: Grade 5 monthly salary starting at £3,303 per month after tax but excluding pension and insurance contributions. Plus, generous benefits.
