Fortune has a dual mission: both advocacy and service. The advocacy portion of our mission focuses on building a more just criminal legal system and reducing the barriers to reentry into society. The service side of Fortune has evolved to encompass a broad range of programs that started with employment and education and now includes a robust array of services, among them: alternatives to incarceration, supervised release, court advocacy, discharge planning within correctional facilities, licensed substance use and mental health treatment, a housing continuum ranging from emergency and transitional through permanent congregate and scattered site housing, assistance in obtaining benefits, a care management unit, HIV services, a food and nutrition program, and an arts program. Each service we provide is informed by the needs of the population we serve. Fortune currently serves approximately 14,000 people a year. Our program models are recognized, both nationally and internationally, for their quality and innovation. We have locations in Brooklyn, The Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens.
Position Summary:
Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, staff, and guests of Castle III, a congregate housing building.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor all residents and guests entering and leaving the building.
Document all activities in the communication logbook.
Regularly patrol resident floors and administrative offices.
Intervene in crises and provide appropriate support when necessary.
Gather and maintain work order requests and submit them to maintenance.
Assist with compliance monitoring activities and adherence to program regulations. Document any problems or concerns in the log and inform the Senior Director or Program Director.
Conduct an orientation to the building for residents (i.e., emergency exits, trash removal, laundry, etc.).
Monitor security cameras.
Conduct fire drills in accordance with FDNY protocols.
Make wellness checks and document findings in the Shift Report.
Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsQualifications:
High school diploma or GED/HSE preferred or related experience.
Experience working in a housing setting and/or providing security services.
Certified in CPR and First Aid is a plus.
FDNY Fire Guard (F-02) and/or Fire Safety and Alarm Coordinator (F80) certification is a plus.
Will be required to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification after employment.
Comfortable with computer-based data entry and using Microsoft Office.
Good written and verbal communication skills are important.
Excellent judgment and conflict resolution skills.

Travel Requirements:
Occasionally travel to Long Island City office or other Fortune Society sites for meetings or training.
Physical Demands:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Can physically monitor hallways of several floor buildings.
