Position: Accounting Student Co-op Reports to: Supervisor, Accounting Work Term: May 4 to August 28, 2026 Rate: $24.51/hr (2026 rate) Purpose of Position: Reporting to the Supervisor, Accounting, the Accounting Co-op student is responsible for assisting with the general duties of Accounting including special projects, accounts payable postings, data entry, general accounting, reconciling, gathering and organizing documents and other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Be a returning student in a Business or Accounting certificate, diploma or degree program. • Must have experience demonstrating effective written and verbal communication skills. • Must have experience demonstrating strong organizational, interpersonal, time-management, tact and sound judgment skills. • Ability to maintain confidentiality • Must hold and maintain a valid Ontario driver’s license. • Clear police clearance • Previous experience in Accounting and customer service is an asset. Knowledge: • Knowledge of financial controls and procedures • General office functions in a team environment • Experience dealing with the public • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook
Major Responsibilities: • Assist with data entry and the maintenance of financial records • Maintain filing systems and organizing of documents • Preparation of journal entries as required • Participate in various meetings as requested • Tactfully respond to questions from fellow employees • Other related duties as assigned. Decision Making and Judgement: • Work is performed under the general direction of the Supervisor of Accounting • Decision making limited to recommending courses of actions to the Division Leader. Physical Skill and Effort • Sitting, standing, walking and lifting up to 10lbs. • Manual dexterity to operate a personal computer. • Travel to off-site meetings as required. Contacts: Internal: • Daily contact with office staff and Division Leader External • Various agencies and members of the public. Working Conditions: Environment • Primarily works in an office environment Control over Work Schedule • Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
